Kosa silk (also called Kosha silk or Tussar silk) is produced by the wild silkworm Antheraea mylitta, fed on the leaves of Arjun and Asan trees. Unlike farmed silk, every thread retains natural irregularities — the hallmark of real handloom.
That distinctive warm beige-gold colour is entirely natural. Kosa silk is never bleached to white, meaning each saree has a unique depth and richness that synthetic fabrics can never replicate.
Kosa silk is lighter than mulberry silk and extremely breathable, making it ideal for Indian weather. With proper care, a quality Kosa silk saree lasts decades — often becoming a treasured heirloom.
